The ACDC_Q project officially launched with its kick‑off meeting held 18–20 February 2025 at the Italian Space Agency (ASI) headquarters in Rome. The event brought together all consortium partners for the first time to outline the project vision, establish collaboration structures, and prepare the technical roadmap for the coming months.
A strong start for a European quantum‑sensing initiative
The meeting gathered representatives from all partner institutions. Across three days, participants introduced their organizations, shared expertise, and presented the objectives and planned activities of each Work Package. Sessions covered:
- Diamond technology and materials
- Integration approaches
- Prototypes, testing, and calibration
- Dissemination and outreach strategies
- Market uptake and tech‑to‑market planning
- Coordination and project management.
The program also included a technical visit to ENEA Frascati, further strengthening collaboration between research and industry partners.
Setting the foundations
During the meeting, partners aligned on:
- work package responsibilities and contributions
- upcoming deliverables and milestones
- communication processes and decision‑making structures
- initial dissemination and project visibility actions.

The consortium left Rome with a clear collaborative framework and a shared commitment to advancing compact, high‑performance diamond‑based quantum sensors for real-world applications.
With the kick‑off successfully completed, ACDC_Q enters its implementation phase, where technical development and cross‑partner coordination will drive progress toward the project’s ambitious goals.
